BOLI

Cool as an orange cucumber, shades necessary, sometimes has issues flying, enjoys desert life, (prefers dessert life), overly confident and stubborn, often in danger, feathers reveal emotional state, loves his friends
ARGUS

In search of the real ‘Hero Boli’, not interested in that other Boli, always saving other Boli, smart and savvy, thinks purple is the new everything, nosey and curious, secretly cares for others
(but don’t tell anyone)
JERRY

Boli’s manager and best friend, short and springy, enjoys yoga on elephants, knows a lot about a lot, is not to be confused with a mouse, sensitive to others feelings, helps Boli to journey across the giant desert floor
SOPHIE

Need a ride? Hop on Sophie to find your way across the desert, dig for water, protect against snakes, or keep you warm. Did we mention elephants don’t talk, well they do, but only when it’s VERY important or to say thank you to a friend
COFFEE

Coffee is Sophie’s little ‘jittery’ sister. She
loves coffee, doesn’t talk much, not the safest to ride on, lightning for eyebrows, loyal sidekick to her wise sister Sophie, excellent digger, may occasionally cause ground to shake
SLAMMY

Older and can’t see too well, great sense of smell, usually nice, but not always when hungry, helpful to those who help him, not a fan of rain, likes chasing mice, does not weigh as much as an elephant, may ssssslur his words
MAGIC BACKPACK

Will give you anything you want … Well eventually. You may have to wait awhile to get it. This magic works best when you look and search outside the backpack for what you want, though sometimes it can be inside the backpack too …

Parent of Child Age 4
We just read the entire book together, he didn’t want to stop … Honestly I’ve never seen him so interested and interactive with a book before. We read for about an hour and he’s never sat still that long reading.

AUTHOR
Daniel Lebost
HI THERE! Ever since I was a little kid, I have had a crazy imagination. I think growing up as an only child, I was challenged to play with toys much of the time by myself and this pushed my imagination into overdrive. I also grew a small obsession with movies and film, often taking my parents old movies and watching them over and over again. Little did I know, this watching actually turned into a passive kind of studying as I grew increasingly familiar with story structure and the hero’s journey used in almost every plot.
Then, when I turned 17, I found my newest obsession — reading! And soon after — writing! In college, I pursued a degree in English, Film, and Communications and later received my Masters in Liberal Arts and my Masters in Teaching in Literature.
I wrote my first book when I was 21 years-old and have written several others since. My imagination, education background, and love of graphic design and marketing, have brought me to a place where I now love to write kids stories. The freedom they offer and sheer fun in writing them has me hooked. Not to mention, the impact a great story has on kids is so incredibly rewarding and pure of heart, it keeps me writing more.
I hope one of my books passes by your path one day as we are all in this journey together and connecting with one another is really what it’s all about.
Halo! My home is in Bandung, Indonesia – it is one of the Indonesian cities with a lot of tradition and culture that inspires my artwork.
Growing up with an artist dad, I was introduced to art at an early age. I spent a lot of time reading illustrated books as a child and being an illustrator was one of my dreams that only happened once I left my formal office job to become a full-time artist.
Boli’s adventure has been my first published children’s book-story. I like to think that I am proof that anyone can pursue their childhood dreams.
